MYOMY wants to make the world a better place by creating beautiful products. But we are just one link in the fair fashion chain.
Find out how we aim to take our do good mission to the next level with our producing partners and customers.
We value long term relationships with our fair trade production partners. With our support they are able to ensure a fair income, acceptable working times, safe working conditions and access to training and personal development for artisans.
This gives them the freedom and self-confidence to make their own choices in life and be an example for next generations. We do this in close collaboration with our three producers: Craft Resource Center in India, I-did in the Netherlands and Leatherina in Bangladesh.
FAIR TRADE JOBS CREATED
The artisans earn a fair income to live, save and invest in a sustainable future for themselves, their family and community.
The artisans receive education and training to develop their skills.
The artisans work in a safe working environment. The artisans have access to a healthcare system.
Craft Resource Center (CRC) in Kolkata, India, has been our main supplier for our fair trade leather products since 2008. CRC’s production has a World Fair Trade Organisation guarantee and all their leather is Leather Working Group certified. For MYOMY do goods CRC produces the high quality designs and build the foundation for a better future for families in India. Our leather designs are handcrafted by Indian artisans and created by local producers with eye for detail. With every bag we sell, CRC generate new jobs with a secure income and access to education and healthcare facilities. We are thankful for our collaboration with CRC and the families they support.
In 2015 we started an impactful collaboration with i-did. i-did helps people in the Netherlands who have been on welfare for a longer period of time. By teaching their participants sewing skills and mentoring them throughout everyday work practice, i-did empowers them to be fit for a job again. The MYOMY bags are made of a beautiful and characteristic recycled felt, giving a stylish second life to army uniforms, black fashion or uniforms from the healthcare industry. Take a look at the collection.
In 2018 we started a new and valuable partnership with Leatherina in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Together with this production partner we aim to empower female employees from Dhaka’s slums. Leatherina provides on-the-job training in their leather workshop and opportunities for women to earn their own income and become independent. Leatherina is in the process of becoming a World Fair Trade Organisation member as well as their local tannery partner, who is working towards a Leather Working Group rating. MYOMY do goods will give full support to realise these ambitions together with our partners. In the end of 2018, we hope to have reached a full production capacity with Leatherina so we can continue our journey towards a sustainable and fair fashion sector.
Together with our production partners, we carefully select the materials used for the MYOMY collection. For example, all the leather used for our production is Leather Working Group certified ensuring environmental compliance of leather manufacturers.
We also take into account all other environmental aspects, including waste and energy. We ask our partners to recycle their waste at the different stages of the production process and to make use of natural drying and sunlight to reduce our energy footprint.

All leather is sustainably tanned by a Leather Work Group-rated tannery. Other fabrics we use are organic or recycled.
All packaging and product information materials will be made from recycled materials.
Making use of land and sea transport (minimise the amount of air shipment).
MYOMY do goods collections are made of the best quality full grain leather. Genuine leather has a natural heritage, making each product unique and lively when wearing it. Together with our producers we carefully select the most sustainable sourcing materials and treatment processes:
All of our packaging bags are made from recycled PET, or Funzil, as they call it in India. Plastic is a worldwide environmental problem. Using recycled PET allows us to reduce the amount of waste going into landfills. All our packaging bags are produced by the CRC’s fair trade women-groups.
Sustainable transport has always been one of our main sustainability challenges as our producing partners and main impact is located in India and Bangladesh. The majority of our products that come from India and Bangladesh are shipped by air. We are aware that airfreight has a high environmental footprint. We aim to have fully shifted from airfreight to sea transportation by the end of 2020.
The impact of our activities can be found on both ends of the supply chain – not only where our bags are being made. Everyone who sells and buys our products is as important as the people who make them. Together we form the MYOMY community. We are promoters of a conscious lifestyle.
When resellers and users of our bags share their positive story, they will inspire others to embrace a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle as well. We cherish our community and highly value our joint contribution to a better world. Together we can love the world, by spreading the word.

More than 230 million children under 5 are not legally registered in India, giving them limited access to health and education services and making them more vulnerable to exploitation and discrimination. Since a large part of our production takes place in India, this cause is very close to our heart. To contribute to a better future for these children, we set up a partnership with PLAN Netherlands: when you buy the MY PAPER BAG Baby, we donate €8 to PLAN Netherlands, the necessary amount needed to arrange an official birth certificate for a child in India.
